Rheems Athletic Association (RAA) and its affiliates are operated by volunteers. State law (effective 2015) requires specific actions in order to be eligible to serve as a volunteer within an organization where the volunteers will be interacting with children/minors. This volunteer registration process is to ensure that we are following these laws and enable RAA to properly track and report on its volunteer participants. Ultimately this process will help to ensure the safety of the children participating in our programs.
You must obtain all clearances prior to proceeding. Please come back to this registration page once you have obtained the necessary documentation.
All prospective volunteers must obtain and provide the following clearances:
· Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (“PSP”)
· Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (“ChildLine”)
· Concussion training through the CDC. This is a free, online training. A certificate will print at the conclusion of the course. https://www.cdc.gov/concussion/HeadsUp/Training/index.html
Additionally, a fingerprint based federal criminal history (“FBI”) submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent is required if:
· The volunteer has lived outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the last 10 years.
The PSP, ChildLine and FBI clearances can all be applied for electronically. PSP and ChildLine are FREE for volunteers. The FBI clearance requires payment, as well as a fingerprint submission. All necessary instructions and links to apply for these clearances can be found at the following link: http://keepkidssafe.pa.gov/resources/clearances/index.htm
